You may be asking, what does being transparent have to do with Magnesium Hydroxide? Isn't magnesium hydroxide
slurry highly turbid or opaque? Yes, magnesium hydroxide slurry is very opaque, and sometimes the world of magnesium hydroxide can be too.
In this post, we will address many unclear practices (opacity) that occur in the world of magnesium hydroxide; namely:
Data Transparency
Before we get into what data is captured and utilized, we want to clarify that the customer/end user will have complete and instant access and control over said data.
Magnesium hydroxide is used as a supplemental alkalinity source and to adjust pH in industrial and municipal wastewater. To measure the effectiveness of magnesium hydroxide, wastewater treatment plants must monitor their pH levels and conduct laboratory tests to review their alkalinity levels. To optimally increase the efficiency of the plant, any data collected should be shared among the service provider, wastewater plant operations team, and any other third-party firms.
Here at Garrison Minerals, the data collected through the devices (listed below) is remotely transmitted to an online portal easily accessed by plant operators and Garrison Minerals' employees (if that access is granted back to us).
Garrison Minerals believes collecting and sharing real-time data with plant operators is essential to both parties' success. Our remote data collection services come with anytime/anywhere wifi or cellular access, real-time instant data transparency, historical data exports, and are fully customizable. All of this without 3rd party software or hardware vendors charging monthly rates for YOUR information.
* Tank Level Data
Collected via Garrison Minerals' level sensing hardware and shared via our proprietary data platform.
* Mixer & Pumping Data
You have access to real-time monitoring if you are using one of Garrison Minerals' Magnesium Hydroxide Storage & Dosing equipment packages.
Remote monitoring and control can include but are not limited to: pH level, mixer operation (on/off), tank level sensing (gallons), dosing pump (on/off, increase/decrease), dosing and feed line flushing, and emergency shut off and notification.
* pH Data
Real-time pH data collection installed at one or multiple locations in your plant.
Product Transparency
Garrison Minerals manufactures our AlkapHix® Slurry and AlkapHix® Powder from our locations in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Crandall, Georgia, and Houston, Texas, which means you get the product produced directly from the manufacturer and not a 3rd party.
Because our AlkapHix® products are shipped to you from our nearest production facility, from our production tanks to your storage system, they are never stored in rail cars, auxiliary storage tanks, or 3rd party facilities. Therefore, you get material that maintains its original properties, is never altered, and is always fresh, providing the highest level of performance.
A COA accompanies each delivery our customers receive, including the % solids of magnesium hydroxide. If requested, we can arrange sampling at the delivery time and provide testing protocols for % solids. We encourage all of our current and future customers to ask for the origin of their supplier's Mg(OH)2, a COA, and to test their % solids at the plant utilizing a moisture analyzer (similar to those used to test biosolids moisture content at the wastewater plant). To see the process for measuring moisture content in wastewater, visit https://asiapacific.ohaus.com/en-AP/About-Us/News/How-to-measure-moisture-content-in-the-wastewater.

We invite all our customers to visit our production facilities in Cheyenne, Crandall, or Houston. Don't hesitate to contact us if you want to schedule a tour of our facility.
Pricing Transparency
No one likes to feel confused when making a purchase. For example, everyone hates when you visit a car dealership, and pricing and payments are inflated or unclear with little to no explanation.
The same goes for charging for chemicals at your wastewater treatment plant. For some reason, purchasing magnesium hydroxide slurry; has taken on a similar experience as buying a car. Unclear and with loads of uncertainty.
Here at Garrison Minerals, we advise our future and current customers to issue bids and pay for magnesium hydroxide by the dry pound. Why? Because you shouldn't pay for the water included in the slurry, paying the same per gallon or wet pound price for a 50% solution and 60% solution is not a fair model for your financials or operations.
Below is an infographic that we use to illustrate our pricing model.
Garrison Minerals always charges based on each delivery's % solids and corresponding $/dry lb or $/dry ton.
